Common Core Standards is the American equivalent to Provincial Curriculum Standards in Canada

Note:  Common Core Standards refers to learning program expections developed by the Federal Department of Education which is responsible for education in the United States.  In Canada, education is a provincial jurisdiction, so each province has developed Provincial Curriculum Standards documents.   Local teams of leading educators and provincial Departments of Education build subject area and support documents using the foundations of Pan-Canadian agreements by the Council Ministers of Education of Canada, worldwide educational research on best practices and local learner and community needs.  Territories will often defer to curricula developed by a larger partnering province.
