The shift in teacher role away from “Sage on the Stage”, lecturer and subject expert is even greater in 21st Century Learning, as digital technologies have in part provided anytime, anywhere access to information on a need to know basis and in a range of highly engaging modes of delivery.  Important roles that the teachers demonstrate are modelling a personal passion for learning and commitment to learning and developing the abilities and talents of students.  Teachers need to create classroom learning opportunities to connect subject area content to students’  interests and passions and finding ways to make learning relevant and personalized.
